I picked up a '64 9.5HP at a garage sale. It runs OK, but both clampscrews are seized. I've tried penetrating oil, WD-40 and heat with no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

Oxide has formed between the parts; repeated propane torch heat will probably loosen them enough to get you started so that you can work them back and forth with lubricant.

Good luck! I had a set on one of my 3 HP's that I never could get loose. I bought a new (old) set on ebay for 6 bucks.....

Forget WD-40

Alternate Heat and PB Blaster. First soak them heavily several times over a day or so. Then heat and try. Repeat as needed. It may take a few days soaking and working to get them out.

Took a weak on a seized aluminum head, but it did eventually come off clean.

Thanks. I bought some PB Blaster and a couple fresh propane bottles. I also removed the cast handles from the clamps so I can slip an adjustable wrench over the ends and put some leverage on the screws. Any other tips?

Yes, only work while heated and work in/out

If you heat then soak in PB blast the cooling seems to draw it into the threads better.
