Another of proably several posts about this motor ,1963 starflite 75 hp elect shift with tilt and trim.Upon reading about this motor and looking closely at it ive determined it has a type 2 ignition, distributor battery system. There is currently no generator on this motor.Do i need a genny to run this motor? If so and i determine this motor is worth keeping where would i find one?

That is correct, under the flywheel. Part of it, that is. The rectifiers, 60A fuse, and voltage regulator are in the junction box. You DO have the junction box...don't you?

Yes you do need it to all be functional or you will get stuck with a dead battery, motor won't start or run, and won't shift into gear. A very low battery may run, but the clutches may slip--resulting in a very expensive repair to the clutches.
