Can I still get rings or pistons or both for my 1963 Johnson 5.5? I found sticky rings is the cause for my engine not wanting to run properly. It was in such poor shape inside I couldn't believe it fired at all. I will probably throw the damn thing in the trash if i can't get parts for it anymore, even though the bottom end is in fantastic shape. If anyone has a used powerhead for this at a REASONABLE price that would be fine too.

Hello. I have no idea if you can get new pistons/rings. Recently I did a seafoam job on my Evinrude 4 HP. What I noticed was how little smoke it produced after letting it sit (overnight) and then again after a 20 minute run cycle. My first thought was that the seafoam hadn't accomplished anything. A few days later I checked the compression and was pleasantly surprised that my pressure was 13 lbs. higher on both cylinders. Long story short, I would suggest you try the seafoam treatment before anything else. It must have freed up my rings to make that much difference. Someone more informed will, I hope, know about the parts availability. Rick.

Ring sets are part number 378432, about $16.00. Takes two sets. Available, no problem
