I have just purchased a 1962 starchief and have a question. The transom wood was changed by the previous owner but not fastened in under the flood well. what kind of fasteners are used, Rivots, screws, or lag bolts? I am glad I discovered this before getting the boat all back together!! Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: 1962 Starchief Transom question

My Crestliner had both glue (probably epoxy) and screws, and my holiday didn't have anything, just the bolts that went thru for one thing or another. It now has epoxy and the bolts. Bolts being 3 eyebolts, 4 bolts on each exhaust tip, making 8, some on the jet drive 4 holding the ladder on, and a couple screws in trim. I would think rivits would be too short as you want at least an inch for transom, probably more. Lag bolts, or screws I don't think would look that great.

There should some bolts going all the way through and numerous screws sealed with 3M 5200 attaching the splashwell.
