I have a beautiful 1962 Alumicraft 14' with at 1962 Johnson 18hp outboard. Both are in great condition, with very few hours on the engine. Over the last 10 years I have put aprox 40 hours on the engine and get it tuned inbetween long periods of storage.

I love the nastalga of the boat, but fear that the engine may not be servicable in the near future.

I am looking for advise on locating parts. Any safety concerns with an older engine and if the age is making it collectable.

Any input is welcome.

Re: 1962 Johnson

DreamJohnson...

Sounds like you have a nice boat/motor combo that's been well maintained. You shouldn't have much of a problem locating parts for that Johnson now or in the forseeable future. OMC produced literally hundred of thousands of that model over many years with many interchangable parts.

I don't know how collectable your motor might be or what it's worth. However, most likely it's worth more to you than anyone because you've maintained it so well...

Walt
