I have a 1962 Evinrude LarkIV 40hp model number 35933 L. I am having trouble with the pull start cord catching the flywheel. Sometimes it catches and I am able to turn the engine but most of the times it misses and doesn't catch the flywheel. I took the pull starter off and notice their are 3 very small springs with a bolt in the meddle. I took the bolt off and then took off the little shaft sleeve. I see the small coil spring which can be stretched out and reset if needed. I took the spring off along with a plastic looking sleeve. I called the dealership for a new spring but they do not make those any more.
I was wondering how to put this spring back together. Does anybody have a pdf file manual for the 1962 Evinrude LarkIV 40hp? Or pictures how to put it back together? Thanks.
