Please help, thinking of buying this great old boat. Would like to know if anyone has information on this boat. I has what looks to be a raised area under the front cockpit area. Is this a welded or riveted bout and are they durable or do they leak?
Sorry can't find much info on the boat.

Thanks in advance for any information.
Mike

There is a website for Duratech boats it has a lot of information concerning them and their history. Do a google search and you will find it. I believe they all were riveted. I have a 1964 and it seems very solid for a 46 year old boat. Good Luck!

Yep...riveted aluminum. Roy Moss (founder in 1950) had formerly been engineering aircraft parts...thus the incredibly tough design and aircraft-like quality. Most say their Duratech does not leak a drop. The ones which do were typically badly abused.

Your pics are really TINY. Can you attach something which blows up to larger size?

Re: 1962 Duratech 15' runabout?

Sorry for the small pics. Ok so I went and checked out the boat. It is 15'6' and has a round console [dash] with the gunales[L shaped metal channel] running from about half way back too the rear of the hull. It has an assign number so I'm not sure what year or model other than the fact that it is a Duratech boat. Here are some better {I Hope] pictures. Is there some place on the hull that I might find a serial number?
Thanks for any help.
Mike

There is generally a 2 inch x 3 inch aluminum tag back on the splash well or on the dash. If it's 15 ' 6", then I believe it to be a Neptune...or if shown to be a '61, it could also be the Saturn. Very good hull, I've got the Neptune and she gives a great ride.
