Cleaning up the fuel system to get the engine going after years of storage and the float needle and seat are like no other I have ever seen.
The float seat does not have a tapered bottom in it for the needle to seal against. Said differently, the needle will pass right through the seat body and seems to seal against the carb body below the seat. The seat doesn't seem to be damaged, or modified in any way.
When I look up the aftermarket needle & seat Sierra pn18-7057 it appears to look like a traditional needle & seat with a matching tapered bottom/seat, and yet when I look up the OEM pn1395-92581 it appears to be what I have.
I have a factory service manual and you can't tell by looking at the set up if the seat has a bottom in it.
Would someone with some vintage experience happen to know if this correct, or do I have a defective seat?
