I'm looking to reseal my lower unit on my old outboard, i wish i had to problem of just having water in my lower unit but after i ran it about 12 hours, i initially was inspecting my impeller, but since i was that far i decided to check into the lower unit. When i popped the gear case apart there was nothing, no oil, little water. Ive been searching for my kit but only have found kits that cover a range of different HP motors from a big range of years. when i look at the picture of what I'm buying nothing really looks like what i pulled out of my lower unit except the spaghetti seal. Any suggestions or maybe a good website i can dive into because all the sites I've spent my time with so far give me just a general seal kit.

I remember working on those 1962 40hp engines when they were brand new.... to my knowledge, there never was a seal kit for them.

You'll need the following:

Shift rod "O" Ring == 301877
Driveshaft seal ==== 302545 superseded to 313284
Propshaft seal ==== 302564
Propshaft "O" Ring = 302588
Spaghetti seal ==== 302604 - 16-1/8" get it longer and cut to fit - cut from 50' roll 309044

also, my screws that hold the gear case together (9 total) and the screw that holds the shift rod in place, are those supposed to have any type of seals on them like the oil screws have those plastic washer seals?

The pivot screw isn't shown to have a seal, it might use a taper to seal, the screws that hold the case together are outside of the spaghetti seal and don't require a seal
