Hi,
Can any one help me with a manual/settings etc for a newly acquired Perkins 4.5hp outboard?

Not tried to fire her up yet, I don't have a very good spark and the coils look original and hence may be in doubt but before I start stripping her down to get to the points etc I wanted to locate any information on the engine that I could. For instance the carburetor appears not to have a float bowl, by design I might add. So lots of unknowns...

I now have a second identical engine :) I think I have captured the market given that they are so rare :)

Chris Craft outboard division was bought by Oliver then sold a little while later to Perkins. "Oillie" at http://www.pfs-ware.com/Parts/OllieParts.htm may be able to help you out.

Afriend of mine and I recently worked on an Oliver and we started out with 3/4 turn out from seat on the high and low. We may have ended up aound 1/2 turn out?? 3/4 seemed to get it to start.

Thanks for the information, I now have a copy of the Owners Guide and Operating Instructions and a Parts List, albeit for a 1962/3 model and both mine are 1961. Fortunately the only difference appears to be the carburettor, mines a Tillotson with a diaphragm float bowl whereas the later models had a standard float bowl. I must pay thanks to John Rattee for the manual and parts list :)
