<br /><br />I guess now you have to find if it's truly getting hot, or if it's a false signal. The hot horn gets 12v+ with the key on. It gets it's ground connection when the overheat sensor completes the circuit. Could be a bad sender or a short in the wire somewhere between the horn and the sender.<br /><br />Or it may actually be getting hot. Sometimes a blockage prevents water from circulating. Especially if the water pump impeller disintegrated. Fragments frequently wash up the system and form a blockage. You can usually clear this situation by backflushing thru the thermostat hole with the gearcase off.<br /><br />Are you getting a good healthy water spray out of the back of the motor when it's running? Place your hand by the hole where it sprays out. If it gets good and wet within a few seconds, your motor is probably getting enough water. It may be distressingly hot when the motor has been running awhile, but it shouldn't be burning hot.
