I have a 1960 Seaking 25hp outboard and am trying to find out what the correct fuel mix is. I've talked to 2 mechanics who gave me 2 different answers. One says 24:1 the other 50:1. At 24:1 the engine smokes and barely runs. At 50:1 it runs good. I don't want to damage the motor. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you had to settle for 1960 oil, Bob, I'd say 24:1. TWC3 oil is so much better that you should be okay at 50:1. I am using it in a 1948 Sea King 1.5hp I recently acquired.

Watch closely for any signs of overheating. If she does heat up, go to a 32:1 mix (4oz./gal).

Be sure you use unleaded, alcohol free, regular (87 octane), mixed with a premium 2 stroke oil. Wal-Mart Super Tech is excellent and a lot less expensive than Quicksilver, my second choice.

Red sky at night. . . .
JB
