Hi,

I’m wondering if anyone would recommend a shop that would replace 2 slipped propeller hubs for me for a 1960 Evinrude 18hp. I have tried 3 different shops near me and no one will deal with them. One of them was even a propeller shop in MA. Are the hubs readily available online? I have not been able to locate the correct hub from what I’ve been able to see. Is it just a matter of pressing the old one out and the new one in? I do have access to a press at work. Thank you in advance.

It is relatively simple process IF you have the tools. Removing a MELTED hub is a very labor intensive process. I did 1. What a frustrating time. I did not realize I had taken almost a hour from start to finish to completely remove the torn and melted hub from both parts. I buy new now.

I agree it is way easier to just order a new one ,but the both of these props are in great condition and I would hat to just throw them out. The hubs don’t look melted and I’m sure would be easy to get out.

some folks just pin the hub with short bolts 180 apart keeping it from slipping.

If you are never banging the prop ? Fine Otherwise you may be replacing gears and bearings.
