1960 40hp evinrude

I have a 1960 40 hp evinrude that seems to be loosing all the lower unit oil in it everytime I run it for a few minutes. I cant tell where it's coming from? Any ideas? It didn't start doing this until it came back from being stored outdoors this winter. Something cracked? or just a gasket?

Ordinarilly, I would say drive shaft seal. Water pump is sucking it out of the gearcase and sending it through the cooling system, unseen.

However, I sort of suspect freezing damage, cracked gearcase.

Whatever the reason, you are going to have to remove the lower unit and examine it. The leak should be obvious with a pressure test.
