I replaced the water pump in my 1958 7.5hp Johnson. After I started it up, I noticed water coming out at the bottom of head on the back left at the base and also noticed no water coming out where it should. I plug that hole with my finger and water came out where it should. I haven't seen this before. Is there a plug of some kind for this and if so where can I get it?

Correct.----There is a welch plug on the bottom of that water channel.-----You could probably make one using a penny or nickel.-----You might be able to remove back half of lower cowling to fix this.

Same welsh (core) plug as used in a few thousand carburetors. Many outboard techs will have a hoard of them in their "goody" drawer, unused from carb kits.

Thanks for the info. I have a few of those carb plugs that I will try.

Is that welch plug the output for the water before it leaves below in the mid section?
