1958 fastwin 18 stripped spark plug hole.

Any suggestions . Appears the lower cylinder threads in head are stripped. Plug wont stay. Do i need a new head or is there another solution.Help please.

A helicoil will usually solve that problem.

Top secret files at top of forum has a list of salvage yards. Tim's outboard 218-682-2331 would most certainly have a good/used head - at a nice price and quick ship. Have your motor's model number handy when you call. Should probably replace the head gasket too..

If I happen to have a spare head in the parts room, I put a new head on. Nothing wrong with helicoils either though. I personally dont own the tool, but the dealer I use for parts pops them in for me for like 10 bucks. Just bring him in the head removed from the block.
