Will a 1962 elect shift 40hp lower unit fit my 1958 35hp unit? thanks

Joe, Correct me if I'm am wrong...<br /><br /><br />DBS...<br /> If your 1958 motor is truly a Super Sea Horse and not just a Sea Horse it might. If the bolt spacing on the the two lower units is the same it will bolt up. The electric shift cable will have to be routed thru the hole in the midsection where you gained access to split the shift rod. the inner cover from the 1962 motor will be needed cause it provides for a seal on the shift wire. The mechanical shft lever will just sit there. The 1958 SUper Sea Horse has the same type of recurculating cooling system with a 2 pipe water pump as the 62, so that should hook up too.
