i use it to get to my fishing spot on lakes and use my trolling motor, the org. prop on there now is a little worn and would like to get a new one, would 9x10 be the best for my use
Either 9 x 10 or 9.25 x 11 is recommended. I have a '58 Evinrude 18hp and I think 9.25 x 11 was the OEM prop. My current prop is an old 9 x 10 Michigan. I just picked up a 9 x 11 on Ebay and will give it a try this weekend.
Your final prop size would depend on your boat and typical load.
iI your boat is typical of what you would expect an 18 on and your load is average
then the oem 9 1/4 X 11 or 9 X 11 should work.
I have a 1959 Rude on a 14' V-Hull that I have decked out and carpeted with 3 pedestal seats livewell and rod box ( just making the point that it's heavier than a factory 14' V-Hull) and I run the 10" prop and it does just fine. With just me in the boat it flies, and with a couple other people in there it still does decent at full speed but it is kinda slugish on the holeshot. I had ran the 9x9 before and it did really good but I do a lot of fishing by myself and I wanted more topend speed. So for my application the 10" is perfect. I think the 11" would be a little too steep. At least for me it would anyway.
