Can anyone enlighting me on how to replace the cam/points wick in these engines? I know the procedure on how to remove and replace. But are you suppose to add oil to this wick? And if so what kind? What should I be aware of?

Thanks

Re: 1957 Sportwin Cam Wick

Use as much light oil on the wick as it will take, and periodically lubricate it later. 3-in-1 or similar 20W oil works well. The aftermarket points sets come with little capsules of moly(?) grease instead of a wick. Grease the cam well with it to prevent the points from wearing out too quickly. I think the wick is much better than a grease though.

Hope this answers your question!

Don't mention it! :)

No, don't use both. If you have a wick which is in good condition and contacts the cam well, use it with oil. If you have no wick, use the grease.
