Does the 1957 seahorse 35 hp have a thermostat? if so where is it? if not, why? Thanks

It does not. Because nobody did in 1957. 'Stats were introduced in 1958 on the Super Quiet 35 and 50hp motors. Those two models also had oversize water pumps and recirculating cooling systems.

Cheer up, your motor's design was reinvented on the 28 and 33hp of the 1960's and early 1970's 40hp. Reason: simple and less expensive to build.

the 58 35 is easy to work on, and extremely dependable, when tuned correctly.
