Well it works!! Kinda? I have spent the last month tearing down my RD 19 and I think my right arm knows it more than anything. Put the motor on my inherited 58 crestliner and it fits perfect. As soon as I put it in the water, it would not start. After about there hours ( and I might need rotator cuff surgery) of pulling I got it to idle. My question is about the 1 and 1/2 tuns out on the needles? How touchy are they? I could screw in about 1/16th and it would change idle. And is it a bi deal to do the carb rebuild kit? Sorry the set up was a little wordy.

Yes, the carb settings a critical. Once you get them dialed in, with good compression and spark, it will run like a sewing machine and give you a lot of pleasure.

That is a fairly simple carb to rebuild. You need an aerosol can of carb cleaner and an air blower is good but not mandatory.
The mixture screws have about a half turn where the engine will run, but less than a quarter turn where it runs good. On a two stroke it's best to set them a little too the rich side.

1 and 1/2 turns on the high speed needle is way too much. No wonder it won't run. It should start with it open 3/4 turn. 1 and 1/2 turns is ok on the slow speed needle though.

What else have you done with the motor? You can bet the farm that the coils are shot, unless somebody has already replaced them. Most carburetor problems....are not.

BTW, if it isn't running after 5 pulls, something is wrong with it. Stop pulling and find the trouble and fix it. Never pull an OMC motor till you wear your shoulder out.

Thanks FR but it would fire after the fourth pull and I could keep it running for a course of minutes till I apparently flooded it. I think my mistake here is the low speed screw is way out, it would smoke a ton. As you directed me in previous posts I have change all the coils points condensors, plugs, wires and key way ( which I didn't tight down to spec ) . I will let you know how this goes. I just wanted to all of you guys walking me through the process of bring the old girl back to life, I will post pics.
