I recently purchased a '57 Johnson Mile Master and after taking the black handle section. I found out that there is a a lot of corrosion inside the take as well as rust. I was wondering if there is anyway to remove the rust/corrosion to make the tank usable again?

A tank cleaner & 'sealer' like POR15's kit includes cleaner, prep, sealer & etc.

You can also use some nuts & bolts and carb cleaner or other solvent pour it all in the tank, close it, and shake it for a few minutes, let it sit for an hour & repeat. For a day or 2..... To clean it, and then the POR15 (or other similar gas tank sealer) to finish it.

Then paint & resto as needed on the exterior.

Replace the tank before it causes a lot of carb problems.

The trouble with a rusty pressure tank is that they are under pressure, lol.

Hard to tell the extent of the corrosion. You could try electrolysis to help then seal if needed.
