I have a 1957 35 hp johnson javelin in my 1956 wooden boat. Don’t seem to push the boat very well on water. Seems to run well, just not fast. Ideas anyone?

What is your definetion of fast ? I would expect around mabey 22-24 mph if the engine runs good. What actual speed are you getting ?? Do you have a tach to see operating rpm?

Welcome to the forum. Great looking boat & motor. How long is the boat? The round/soft chines on the boat contribute to the slower top speed. Good luck!

Did you adjust carburetor on the water ?----Moror might be running on just 1 cylinder.----Some simple tests needs to be done.-----How did it run last season?
