I have a 1956 Johnson 7.5 that runs well. I got it running and I got it on my little boat. A Lowe 12 foot V Aluminum. I took it out to my local reservoir to try it out. At full throttle I can only get up to 5 mph, Is that good? The only thing in the boat is me. I'm 6'3" 270lbs. It just seams to lack some power any idea or help you can give me.
Here's a video of the motor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHHH2aiMyTI
thanks

Can't tell from the video. But 90% of the time, such complaints come because it is running on one cylinder. On the other hand, 270 pounds + motor + gas tank in the back of a 12' Aluminum may be asking too much. You have to get it up on plane to go any faster. Hard to do with all that weight in the back of such a small boat.

I agree - maybe try moving the tank to the bow. If it's a narrow beam boat, may not help, but a wider hull might take right off for you. I have a 12-foot Dura-Nautic and tip the scales at 240. It does okay with a 1955 Evinrude 7.5 (more or less the same as yours) with the tank between the bow and middle seats.
Motor sounds okay from what I can tell.

You may be able to mess with the trim a little. Is it a standard height transom?
