I have a pressurized gas tank for both a 5.5hp 1956 Johnson and a 15hp 1956 Evinrude. I need assitance with the correct operation of this pressurized tank. When priming the tank I notice there is a hole that looks like it was intended to be there near the primer button on the side of the upper flange. This hole is either sucking or blowing during operation and I was wondering if this is correct operating procedure.I have the shop manual and have referred to it, but could not locate any useful tidbits on this topic. I also was wondering if this hole is not to feed air into the tank does the tank get its air form the motor and how. Thanks in advance for your assitance and also for a brilliant website. :D

it seems to hold pressure, but that approx. 1/8 hole on the side of the flange seeps air. I was wondering if the air is fed from the outside to the tank or from the engine to the tank? thanks for the quick reply i appreciate it.

the hloe is where the air comes in for the primer to preasureize the tankair leaking out could be a bad checkvalve . i have never had a problem with one . probabley a rebuild kit for that . if it runs it may not hurt any thig . you can convert it to a pump . i have herd of that never don it myself

Thanks for all of your assistance. I will run as is for now and if it acts up I will rebuild.
