1956 Champion 16.5hp - Alcan/Steelespike ?

I've just bought the above outboard at auction. (model 6N-D) Can anyone tell me what spark plugs it should have ? Someone has used 2 different plugs They are both Champion, one is a CJ8 the other a CJ7Y. Is either of these the correct one or is it something completely different ? Also I know that the point gap is .018" - what should the plug gap be ?<br /><br />Thanks<br />Mike

Hi Kiwi<br />Congrats on your successfull adoption. I don't have a firm listing for spark plugs for your model. But I will take an educated guess and say champion J8J gaped at .030. Maybe some of the other guys will firm this up for us.
