1956 and 1966 3 HP Gas tank question

Will the tank recoil assembly from a Johnson JW-12 (1956) fit a JW-21 (1966)? In the parts manuals they appear to be identical.

Are they the same part number? If so, then they should. Have you tried using it on your JW-12? If it works, then you're in luck.

I am looking at buying the JW-12 tank and recoil for the JW-21. The part numbers are different the pictures in the parts manual are identical.
