We aquired this motor from grandpa who bought it new back in 1956. The motor has never been apart and we are slowly going through it as it has not run in over 25 years, but she fires up now w/new points, coils, plugs. We are looking for a non-cork replacement carburetor float and not having much success. Can we cross-reference somehow to a newer float that will work with this carb? Even a local johnson dealer was not much help - pretty much told me good luck. Found a carb rebuild kit but it does not contain a float. Saw one for an 18 horse but not sure if it will work for 10 horse. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

If you cant find the plastic one..get the cork one and just coat it...some use super glue....some use epoxy fuel dope for model airplanes....

there is a forum somewhere for antique motors..I dont have the link....but there are some on here that have old motors and will help you better....they will help you get it running like new....they are good....

Non-cork float is part number 396514. Available from any Evinrude dealer. All they had to do was look at their books. Original cork float 375919 is replaced by 396514.

Apparently that must have been too difficult for them. Thanks a lot! We can't wait to get this running and take Grandpa out with it, he turned 93 this year and never thought he'd see the old motor running again. It's such a beautiful motor, too!

Thanks once again for your time :)
