1955 Johnson 25hp

I am checking out this motor that is for sale, asking $325. Seems to be in good running condition and looks decent. Anything I should be aware of with that year and hp motor? I have heard to stay away from any Johnson or Evinrude older than 1957, not sure why. I have a '57 18hp Evinrude but wouldn't mind a bit more power. Thanks for any advice.

Nothing wrong with the older engines, some parts might be hard to find.
I don't think I would pay that much for that engine unless it was in perfect condition, some collectors might.
