I have a 1954 Johnson Seahorse 5.5 HP CD-11. My lower unit has developed a couple of holes in it, and miraculously I think I was able to find a replacement on ebay. However, the seller says its for a 5.5 HP CD-12. I'm pretty sure it will fit, but can anyone for sure tell me if this lower unit will fit my motor?

Assuming it will fit, I'm planning on ordering a lower unit seal kit so that the seals can be replaced when I change out the lower unit. However, I can only find kits that date back to 1955 for a 5.5 HP. Can anyone give me a part number or link to a kit that will fit my CD-11?

Thanks.

Yes, CD-12 is a 1955 and it is almost identical to the 1954. So, you should be fine. The CD-13 is a 1956 and in that year, they made a lot of major changes to the design.

You will be fine. The 1954-55 is the exact same lower unit. The difference between the 1956-63 lower unit and the 1954-55 is the propshaft and clutch dog. They will all interchange as an assembly so you can use any 1954-63 5.5-7.5 hp lower unit.

The seal kit for the 1956-63 5.5-7.5 hp is the one you need.
