Hello, first post from a new member. So I just inherited a old Johnson outboard what appears to be a tn28. It has been sitting for approx 15-20years. Just curious if y?all could be of some assistance. I want to get it restored and running. I?m a auto tech by trade so I have a strong mechanical background. I?ve started to tear into it and so far it looks like I need a new carb float, spark plugs, impeller. Does anybody have part numbers for these items? Also looking for a service, and operation manual. I want to try and get it running by next spring. Thanks in advance.

Spark plugs are J6C. That is the easy part. Carb float was 004110, but is obsolete. I use a Sierra Marine 18-7208 (for Mercury), and run a 3/32" drill bit down through the center for the float pin. Impeller was 375688 but is obsolete. You can use a Sierra 18-3001 by reaming the center hole enough to fit over the drive shaft. Sierra parts are available right here at iboats.

Thanks for the info. Any leads on a service/operation manual?

Check around to see if you can find a Johnson Service Manual, 10th edition. More than likely will be one on e-bay.

You may find an impeller at vintageoutboard.com or ebay. You will have to reuse or make new carb gaskets.

Impeller number is [h=1]375688[/h]

Was planning on cutting out my own carb gaskets. I have a cnc stencil cutter at home. Was going to scan the old gaskets and cut them on that. Does anybody have the info for the leather primer seals?
