I have just aquired a 1952 7.5 hp Evinrude Fleetwin. It is in excellent condition but I need to know about the clutch. Do I pull it up or push it down when starting it? I want to make sure that I am not going to do any damage the 1st time I try to start it up. Any information or tips you could give me on this beauty would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i have one just like it and you can do it ether way but i prefer to disengage the clutch by pulling it up and then turn the big nob ? low speed nob to rich and pull choke on the left and don't:) for get to open the vent on top and open the fuel line with the small nob on the left if you have any questions just ask.

Yep, up is neutral, down is in gear. Won't hurt anything to start it in gear, though, at least mechanically speaking. Might hurt you if the boat isn't pointed in the right direction... ;)
