When I check instruction label on my 1952 10HP Envinrude, It says "use good twc3 outboard oil or good S.A.E. 30 automotive oil". My question is" can I use 5W30 or 10W30 automotive oil instead of outboard oil". Does it affect engine performance or its liability. It is direct instruction from manufacture so it should be correct, eh.
My second question is this screenario "I have 1972 85 HP Chrysler outboard, when I run it between 3000-3500 rpm, I can see the water comes out from its pee hole. But the more rpm the less water come out and up to 5000 rpm, there is no water at all. Is it the sign for me to replace the impeller?
Runing the engine at 5000 rpm for awhile, I stop the engine and lay my hand on the engine block, it is not really hot. I can set my hand for more than 5 second so it is not overheated.
At my WOT, the engine hit to 6500 rpm. Is it normal or abnomal for typical outboard engine. What is optimal outboard speed? 4000, 4500 or 5000 rpm ?

Howdy, CO.

Use only TC-W3 oil, at 24:1 , in the little 'Rude. Never use oil with detergents or multi-viscosity oil.

Good luck on the Chrysler. :)
