Hello, I have a 1950s 16ft 56 inches wide Alumacraft boat. It has the removable aluminum cover in the front about 36 inches. It didn't have a title when I bought it, so when I got a title it says 2011. I don't see any factory numbers on it. There is an alumacraft tag on front seat that says Minneapolis MN. It does have the Aquaduct transom. I'm just wondering the the max Hp rating is. I'm thinking about putting a 1958 35hp Johnson Seahorse tiller motor on it. Thanks for reading.

I forget the model name but 50 hp was a good match for that boat. I was looking to buy one in that time frame and couldn't find a used one around here. I had a 12 and 14' and wanted a larger boat. One of my buddies ran a 33 HP Johnson on his 14' with a side console....nice match.

Max HP is 45, a 35 hp will move that boat right along. There is a number on the knee of the transom middle brace inside of the boat. E mail that number to alumacraft and they will tell you the model you have.

Ok great thanks. I took a pic of the brace with numbers and sent it to Alumacraft.

I guess I would have been over the limit. I was looking for a OMC 50 looper to go on it....I guess I would have had stellar performance...course I did want it to get up and go when I had to outrun a storm......fishing open water in a small boat.

If any transom could take it, that is the one. I still have a flying D sitting in a shed that just needs to be assembled, probably should let it go.
