That's not an odd duck...who are these Experts?...that's an old Merc made for Western Auto stories and sold under the Wizard badge. Nice, reliable, simple motors...nice outboard for a youngster or oldster, or in between. Go to www.oldmercs.com to see the old Merc line-up and the Wizard model cross reference. If you don't want it, ship it to me...I like those old, reliable, odd ducks. Be forewarned...once you start tinkering with the old iron, you can't stop.

That would be about as easy a restoration as there could ever be! All the bits and pieces are there and appear to be in decent shape - gas cap, lower cowls, recoil, etc. are often the first things that get abused/lost/dented/broken/etc. If it turns over and the gearcase isn't cracked up, then go for it! As tmcalavy noted, get familiar with oldmercs.com to get parts, manuals, etc. I think decals have been made for them, too, although you'll have to search around for them. I can't recall who had them... Try the links at the AOMCI.org site for more old motor sources...

Nice work. Does it run as good as it looks now? If not, won't take much effort/time/$$ to make it so. Where is the Wizard forum home page? If they didn't recognize that motor...hmm.

Sorry I haven't got back in awhile, The little wizard runs awesome, starts on first or second tug and idles like a trolling motor!

Kinda thought it would. My fav is the WG4, one earlier than yours...rated at 6 hp, but I bet it kicks closer to 7.5. Loves to run...wish I still had my smaller boat for it.

I have a WF-4 twin cylinder Wizard that was my father's and has not run in 40 years. I cleaned the carburetor, filed the points to get spark and cleaned the gas tank. I have pulled it forever to try and start it but it will not get gas to the plugs and water runs out of the lower spark plug cover. Can anyone help me to know what to do next?
Thank you
