The engine doesn't have a spark when I pull the cord, it hasn't been running in about 20 or so years from what I was told. The sparkplug looks good and has the right gap, I've taken off the flywheel and attached is a picture. I'll file the points and reset the gap. What else should I do? Does anything not look right?

Ohm test that coil Guaranteed its shot. Im almost sure you can go buy a OMC coil and pull the winding off and swap it to that old one. You can you tube or google how to do it

The 3.6hp, 1957 Firestone my grandfather gave me sat for 50 years when it stopped running, I have had it for 35 years and just figured out the coil wire to plug was shot, I found a set of copper core wires for $20 and laid one in and found spark where there was none before!! Cool, let the restoration begin.
