Greetings boat lovers. My father recently passed but lived a fabulous life full of many trips to the San Juans. He LOVED antique boats and motors. We recently sold his 1947 22' Chris-Craft Runabout and his 1969 35' Chris-Craft Commander. I'm asking for assistance as we have an antique MW Sea-king outboard, that I've learned a few things about, such as it's a rebuilt, and the label my father went to great lengths to purchase for it, is not the right label for the Moter (but, it sure looks good!). He had been corresponding with others around the states to gather information such as the Evinrude manual. I'd love to know more about this outboard as well as an option to donate it where it will be appreciated as he spent hours researching. Before you ask me too many questions, please know I did not do this research with my father and sadly realized after his death just how passionate he was about this and other motors. Thank you for any assistance you can provide. PS, I believe the tag that came with it when he purchased it, is incorrect as it says 10 HP?

I'll be happy to help, but I need more info. My Q&D check of my "book" only shows a few '39 SeaKings.

The motor should have a metal tag on it somewhere, probably riveted on the mounting bracket. It would have a 4-digit model number. With that I can look kit up and pinpoint it exactly.

In that absence, the power head may have a freeze plus with the model number.

Thank you! I have two model numbers:
Montgomery Ward Model No.: 8811A
Evinrude Model No. 4335

Thank you! I have two model numbers:
Montgomery Ward Model No.: 8811A
Evinrude Model No. 4335
4335 is an 8.5 HP short shaft Evinrude Fleetwin made between 1939-1941.
8811 is the same hp and years, and it cross checks to a 'Rude model 471.

I find no reference to the "a".
