18' starcraft supersport hp rating ?'s

I was wondering, what year starcraft raised the hp rating to 150hp
on the 18' supersport and what year did they change from one bow rail to
two. Also thanks for all of you guys posting the details of your rebuilds.
I'm sure they will come in handy when I redo the floors on my 16' sylvan sportster.

Not sure bryan. Glad you checked in. You're welcome to join the starcraft club with your Sylvan given that it's pretty much identical to a SC supersport Lets see some more pics!

I agree with EZ your boat is basically a Starcraft so show us some pics of her . I dont figure Kev will kick both EZ and Myself out of the Club for bringin ya in . The Bow rail I am not sure about but the HP rating I am pretty sure was always 150 for that boat.

mines a 69' and the tag on the boat says 120 or 125 ... ill double check exactly which one later on. id still like to throw a 150 on the back but EZ keeps giving me a hard time about it .. LOL

I'm working on posting up some picks. I thought I had seen some capacity
plates with 140hp being the max capacity on some early 1970's 18'supersports
in some starcraft threads. The reason i'm asking is I would love to mount a
mercury xr2 or xr4 on one if I could find one thats rated for the hp. These
merc 150's are for sale quite often around here usually mounted on the back
of an old bass boat with rotten floors and/or broken transom. The problem
is finding a 18' supersport, they are rare in Alabama. I had to drive to Helen,
Ga to get my sylvan. Before that I had a 1976 18' SS lined up in Nashville,Tn
with a merc 115 I6 for $750. I waited 1 day too long for that one.

Scott put the 150 on it you can always use less throttle on a bigger motor but ya cant get anymore than full throttle out of a little one .

Hey, On my 1972 star craft super sport. The Max HP rating is 140hp, The max HP rating didn't go up til the 80's. Not sure what exact year but it was early 80's I want to say.

I just bought an '82 18' Supersport with the original 140 HP Johnson, which is the largest motor allowed by the BIA cert. for that year and model. The speedomter indicates 42 mph, wide-open, which is plenty fast for me. I have not yet checked the speedometer accuracy against a GPS.
