18' maxum owners what prop do you run

I've got a 18' maxum br with a 4.3 v6 2bbl and a alpha one outdrive. I now have a 13.75 21p quicksilver ss prop. Top speed is 52 mph (gps) holeshot is so so. I want more holeshot and to stay on plane at a slower speed. I'm willing to give up 8-10 mph. I'm in the process of getting my tach fixed so I don't know the rpm's. I also added the dreaded hydrofoil that everyone hates It helped the takeoff alot

hi I got a 18 foot bowrider I only have the 4 bang-a but I run a 19p prop on my boat with the hydrofoil my boat gets right up and go's sure I wish it was bigger and sure I wish it was faster buy its paid for and its mine I hope this helps at all good luck

A 21 sounds right for that boat, I'd guess your rpm's are where they should be, but I would fix your tach and be sure first. I use a four blade SS Mich. Wheel Apollo 14.25X20. I had the same problem, good speed, Ok holeshot when lightly loaded with a 21 SS Stilletto three blade, but my rpm's were a little low at WOT. Now with the four blade I'm right at the top of my rpm's (4800) with my typical load, holeshot is much better, and I didn"t lose any top end. A 20" spinning 4800 rpm is just as fast as a 21 spinning 4400 rpm, at least in my case it is, I run about 55 MPH with both of my props. I can hold plane at 15 MPH at 2200 rpm, with my 04 Glastron SX 195 5.0 W/ Smart Tabs.

agree nothing like a four blade. u may not sacrifice any top end. but need to know wot rpms very important in helping you choose the right prop.
