175hp Merc Idle Issues

Howdy Everyone,<br />I have a 1998 2-stroke 175hp Offshore Merc.<br />I am having some problems with cold starts and idling.<br />Once it is started it idles pretty rough and often does. Also idling in-gear also has the same result. Once I am above 1000 RPM everything is cool.<br />Is it just idling too low?<br />What should it be at and where do I adjust it?<br />I have checked the plugs and they are good, the fuel is also good and free of water.<br /><br />Any thoughts?<br /><br />Thanks!<br /><br />Joel

I feel your pain p-ratt when I was looking to buy my next boat I decided to buy only brand new so I wouldn't have any problems, I bought a new bay boat that runs wonderfully but. The engine that I opted for was a 2002 75hp mercury, I had a 200hp mercury before in my other boat and never had problems but I've been having a lot of trouble with the new engine. At first they had it idling over 1000 rps and when I would would put it in gear it would kick in too hard, then I saw that the rpms should be between 600-800rpms so I demanded to have the rpms to factory specs. and I'ts been only trouble since a this time my boat is in the shop at this time the 3rd time in 2 months.It is still under warranty and still they can't fix it right.
