Alright guys I bought a 87 bayliner cc boat last winter and its performed relatively well up until last weekend. Its always had a few slight issues like a miss during idle like its backfiring once in a while making a spitting noise but really dogs down n misses for a few seconds then clears up n its off to the races from there. My problem now is that im only getting spark to the number one cylinder and the boat wont start.... well it started after leaving it sit for a week but then died n wouldn't fire again... im thinking a dirty magnets or its not timed perfectly or it even jumped time? Can I remove the flywheel without messing up the timing so I can access the magneto. I have alot if questions but dont wanna bombard yall so let's start with those....

It could be many things...most likely switch boxes but without testing the stator, grounds, trigger, compression and a host of other things, you will throw a lot of money at it..timing has nothing to do with it unless you messed up the carbs and it will need a lync and sync.Dirty magnets????? you referring to the Flywheel.....They almost never fail....you have a bunch of testing to do long before you pull off the flywheel with a special puller...no timing will not be affected....lastly get the information from CDI download on the net...you will need a DVA meter or adapter to use with a digital meter to capture the numbers....I have thrown a lot at you however do searches on here for what I have mentioned as these types of electrical problems are not uncommon with any brands of outboards...
