hi just wondering what would be a good choice for pitch on my boat 17,checkmate.200hp merc presently running a 23 pitch......been told to go to a 4 blade and a 24 pitch

Hello, kenthrussell.<br />first, what kind of RPM's are you turning now? you should not be turning no more than 5600. it should be between 5000-5600. I currently have a 150 salt water series mercury with a 21 pitch mirage plus that turns 5400. that's perfect for me, quick out the hole and good top end speed. keep the rpm between that and you'll be fine. four blade wheels are very good out of the hole and mid speed with exellent handeling but on top end you'll fare better with a 3 blade wheel pitched right.
