When hooked up to ears in the driveway my 165 Mercruiser temp gage does not heat up. I ran it for about 5 min at 1100 RPMs. I just finish installing a new impellar assy in the outdrive. Any help???
Does the guage do anything? Is the water coming out warm from the exhaust? My old 165 would never get much past 140 degrees on the muffs with cold water pumped in.
I don't know the air/water temp in Seattle this time of year, but here in Mass. I would be surprised to see the gauge move before 8 - 10 minutes on a hose from a cold start.
DHP

dhp
Its 55 degrees here. The water is warm coming out wouldn't say hot. I'll check the connection but I thought it was on good. I guess cold is better than too hot...
I hope I'm helping you a bit. Before the repair work did the motor warm up quicker? If so,and it also overheated, you needed the new waterpump.
Just for reference...how long before the temp gauge goes up in your car or truck.Maybe a little quicker, but that's a closed cooling system. Not NEW cold water constantly going thru it.
DHP
