16 SS Live Well Anydody?

Has anyone added a live well to their restorations? I love my 1974 16 ft SS and can generally keep fish alive on a stringer but a live well is something I’ve thought about.
I know a sheet metal guy who can custom make the tank out of sst or aluminum. Thinking port side and replacing the lounge seats.

Plastic and Fiberglas are the materials of choice for bait and live wells for a number of reasons.

Keep in mind, the tank should be insulated and the corners should have large radius’, not square.

Best bet is to buy a prefab tank or make one out of a cooler. Installation / rigging kits can be bought for both solutions.

Another word of caution is weight. Water weighs #62.5 per cubic foot. A decent sized full of water is going to be heavy.

Not an insurmountable problem but something to think about to think about in a 16’ boat

I have a 55 quart cooler that I turned into a portable live well for the fishing boat. I toss the pump pickup and discharge over the side when fishing. water inlet is a check valve coming in thru the cooler drain. over-flow discharge is a thru-hull fitting sealed with 5200.

you have to prime the pump when you start it, however not a problem 99% of the time.

The addition of livewell to my 18' SS was possible because I added a rear casting deck. I also added insulation to to another well to be a cooler in deck.
