Hi all, I am new to this board but will try to give you all some humor.
A few weeks ago, a buddy and I decide to take a fishing trip to a lake in northern Minn. where his mom lives on a lake. My buddy already has a boat on the water there, so we didnt have to pull one 400 miles. Convinient.
We take off from town around 1pm and arrive at the lake around 7 pm. We stopped about 5 miles from the lake and grabbed a cold refreshment to relax after the long trip. We arrive at the lake, and greeted my buddies mom. We then decided to go get the boat ready for some fishing the next day. It was on the lake tied to a stump on the bank. We got too it to realize it was 1/2 full of rain water. My buddy got in it and started to bail with a 1 gallon pail. I told him he would be there all evening, and lets just winch it up on shore with the winch that was attached to a post on the bank.
So... we proceded to winch this big 16 ft Lund up the bank to pull the plug and let it drain. We could then have another cold beer while it drained. Hey we were pretty smart!! Yeah right, as we winched the boat up, the water went to the back of course, the boat did a transom stand.Woo Hoo here we go!! We were cranking and pulling as fast as we could when another boat came buy leaving a wake just big enough to come over the transom. We both watched as the 4.5 Merc looked like the Titanic as it, and the back of the boat went scuba diving.

After about 20 minutes we got the boat up and drained, and took the motor to the garage and flushed it out, along with cleaning the entire fuel system. By this time it was about 11 pm. We had had a few, ok a bunch, of cold beer while doing all of this. Then we decided go back down and put the boat back in the lake, the motor on, and go for a late night cruise across the lake. Heck of a plan.

We got the boat back in, as my buddy started to the back of the boat with the motor, he slipped on the wet floor, his butt hit the gunwhale, the boat tipped, took on water, he went into the lake along with the 4.5 Merc (on his chest) backwards!! Making up new four letter words as he frolicked in the lake, I was laughing too hard to realize what was going on. I grabbed the motor before it was completely under, only to realize the boat was on the bottom of the lake again. Now its about 11:30. Here we are cranking the boat up out of the lake again. Two times in one evening. Just as we get the boat up on the bank, just far enough to pull the plug, the post that held the winch snapped. What an evening. We then realized the front of the boat was resting on a trre root under the water, causing it too tip easily. We both were kind of leary of getting in the thing the next morning. We thought it was possessed.

All in all it was a good trip that we still laugh and joke about too this day. Who do you know that can sink a 16 ft Lund 2 times in one day!!
