I just bought a 2008 15hp Nissan ,looks brand new ,was told it was only used a few times, the guy told me.it has been sitti.g for about a year with no use. It was I. His garage on a stand.

We put it I. A barrel.of water and it started on the first pull, then started it with a battery, oil looks clean,no leaks of any kind,I guess my question would be shoul I change oil because of it sitting that long or just use it ,any other advice appreciated also , thanks.

Re: 15hp Nissan

As with any used motor, it's prudent to change the oils, and verify cooling. Then review general tune-up items, such as making sure plugs are good, and carb is adjusted correctly. Do not over fill the crankcase -- not even a drop. Use 10w-30 FC-W non-synthetic oil.

Redneck Joe& Pvanv thanks for the replies, should I order a service manual or owners manual or both?

PVANV I have read alot of your post and threads and will be using your advice,I had it in the river for about 30 minutes last night , it idled smooth and rand very good , so since I don't know much about carbs I will leave the carb alone, thanks again.

Re: 15hp Nissan

Your owner's manual is available at Nissan outboard manuals
You can get a Factory service manual from any dealer (including several forum members... even me). Skip the aftermarket manuals, as they tend to be too general to be of much help.
Since you have good idle, your carb is probably OK.
