There are always more than one prop for a given engine because the manufacturer has no idea what type of boat, barge, pontoon, the engine will be installed on and one prop will not service all of them. So the prop you have probably worked well on whatever boat the engine came off of. It may not work worth a darn on your boat. Only a tachometer will tell the story.

The 9 1/2 by 10 by 3 (386118) was the standard prop for the motor. It was used for Aluminum boats in the 12 to 14 foot range with light loads and speeds in the 18 to 20 mph. The 12 1/2 pitch would be for a smaller, lighter, faster, boat.

On my 14 Foot Klamath Aluminum I changed to a 9 3/8 by 9 by 3 (389892) Stainless Steel prop and it performed better.

thanks Boatist I am going to change it to a 9 1/2 x 10 and try it the 9 1/2 x12 1/2 seemed a little to steep a pitch to me but while I was looking nothing in any prop selectors said any thing about that size prop.
