15hp Honda 4 stroke, How much does it weigh?

Hello, I have an evinrude 15hp 2 stroke and all the lakes around here in the peoples republic of California are banning 2 stroke outboards. Just wondering if anyone knows the weight difference of a 4 stroke. I have a 12 foot western aluminum extra wide and would like to keep 15 horsies or more but can't afford to take that much more weight in my boat....Thanks for any advice in advance......Warren

what model honda do want to know the wieght on they make several models of 15 hp with trim and tilt electric start long shaft or what check there wed page www.hondamatrine.com it will give you all the specs . Honda is suposed to have the lightest 9.9/15 four strokes on the market

The 2001 Honda 15s weighed 101 to 108lb. without T&T.<br /><br />They have recently introduced a lightweight 20/25/30 but I don't know if they have redone the 15s yet.<br /><br />Good luck.

Hey, by any chance do any of you guys know what my 86 evinrude tiller, pull start (no starter), manual tilt, no charging system..Weighs? I have picked it up and its very light but I have nothing to compare it to. I have been told that the newer motors are heavier but I would likt to pick the lightest 4 stroke that will meet California clean air standards.....Thanks Warren

What are you going to do with the old Evinrude? 2 strokes arn't baned here in VA...

I recently purchased a bf15 no electirc start, tiller handle. It weighs 106lbs full of oil and dripping wet, its a lot to lug around. I use it as a kicker, it has plenty of power and I love it. Starts easy every time and will push my boat(22' Pursuit) to 7 knots in calm waters. My only complaint is the tilt switch is hard to reach and the friction lever that holds the engine in position does not lock. I beleive the tohatsu is the lightest and cheapest in this class.

I have an 86 9.9 rude and they are great little motors. The 9.9/15 rudes weigh around 70 - 75 lbs.<br /><br />Jon Boater

mikenvabeach, glad to see you setteled on a 15 hp 4 stroker instead of the 2 stroker, good choice in my opinion.
