15HP hesitates at 1/2 throttle

I have a 2003 15hp which started acting up this past weekend. It has started to hesitate at about 1/2 throttle. It seems to idle quite nicely but at about 1/2 throttle it just about dies. If I can get past this region it seems to run smoother but does not seem like it is getting full top end speed.

Does this sound like a carb in need of cleaning and or high speed needle being plugged? Any advise on what to look for or what parts to pick up would be appreciated.

I tried to take it to local dealers but none will commit to a date when I might get it back. With holidays next week I would really like to get this running again.

Hesitation usually indicates fuel delivery problem, so you are looking in the right direction. Those carbs are pretty simple, there are couple of screw on the top right ouside of the motor (as you look at it from the front), screw them in all the way counting the turns, then back out completly and spray carb cleaner in them (may be just one screw). There is a drain screw there also, drain the carb and spray some cleaner up into the opening. The orficies in the hondas are small so it does not take much to clog up the hole. If you are running a small tank, run a strong mixture of Seafoam or Chevron fuel injector cleaner in you fuel for a while.
