15HP Gamefisher gear linkage

Model #225-581503 Howdy All! I'm stuck in Fwd gear, no neutral, no reverse. Im mechanicly inclined and like doing things myself(pay somebody else later) I tried to drop the lower unit and cant seem to get it to break free, bolts are out and unit dropped about a 3/8 of an inch. Not being familiar with the engine I dont want to force it, Is there a trick? Also I found a hex head bolt in the lower unit that I removed, could this belong to the gear shift linkage or something related and be my problem? This might sound silly but I have a 7.5hp gamefisher and what happened to me is when I shut is off(in forward), and then tried to start it again. I tried to put in in neutral, but wouldn't budge, I pushed it so hard I thought I was going to break the linkage. Finally I realized the tiller handle has to be twisted to the start position in order to change gears. <br /> So, if your handle is forward, and you have a tiller handle, try turning in different positions(start, stop) and see what happens. <br /> Hope this helps...I was quite embarrassed when it happened to me, at least no-one was around when it happened
